Wealden MP Nus Ghani joined the festivities in Hailsham on Saturday to celebrate the 20th anniversary of Hailsham Farmers Market.
The event celebrated two decades of Hailsham Farmers Market selling local, quality, traceable produce and crafts direct from producers.
To mark the anniversary, Nus joined local traders, including Cllr Michael Lunn, who owns and runs Coopers Farms and attends all four Wealden farmers markets, to cut a celebratory cake alongside festive celebrations including carol singers and an appearance from Father Christmas.
Hailsham Farmers Market takes place on the second Saturday every month at the Cattle Market Site in Market Street near Hailsham Town Centre.
Nus Ghani, MP for Wealden, said: “I had a great time cutting the cake to celebrate twenty years of the Hailsham Farmers Market. I’d like to thank Ben Pratt, the Market’s Chairman, for inviting and hosting me.
“The Farmers Market is a fine example of local trade flourishing. The traders at the market are all wonderful local producers and we are lucky to have such a brilliant market every month.
“Local businesses are thriving in Hailsham and I was delighted to support the nomination of Hailsham High Street earlier in the year for High Street of the Year. The Farmers Market is another example of a booming local community project.”
Cllr Michael Lunn, Wealden District Councillor and Trader, said: “It was lovely to see our local MP Nus Ghani join us for our festive market and Christmas Carols.
“Wealden farmer markets are a real asset to Wealden towns and they need all the support they can get, so it was fantastic for Nus to visit during her busy schedule.”
