Nus Ghani, MP for Wealden, was delighted to hear the news that Uckfield’s favourite radio station is planning to expand its service to Crowborough.
A second transmitter is planned to be installed in Crowborough, which would ensure availability of the station throughout the town. Plans for expansion of coverage to Withyham, Eridge, Groombridge and Rotherfield are also being considered.
The regulator Ofcom have already agreed to the plans and a date for commencement of broadcasts will be announced when due processes have been completed.
The station currently broadcasts to Uckfield and the surrounding villages and can be heard anywhere via the internet or via their new app.
Nus Ghani said: “Our community radio stations are real lifelines to many constituents, and I cannot thank them enough for all they have been doing during the coronavirus pandemic and beyond. Uckfield FM are a well-trusted, fantastic asset to the Uckfield area, and I am so pleased that plans to expand their service to Crowborough and the north of the constituency are in full swing. I am working with Uckfield FM closely and enjoy my monthly catch ups on air with them to discuss local matters and national campaigns. The work and success of our local radio stations depend on a fantastic team of volunteers and I was proud to crown the Uckfield FM team Wealden Heroes last summer and highlight their incredible work for the community.”
