Nusrat Ghani, MP for Sussex Weald, returned to The Station Youth Centre in Hailsham to find out more about the opportunities Hailsham Youth Service is providing and the positive impact of the team's work on the local community.
The Station Youth Centre in Western Road, which has officially opened on 14th September 2024, is a newly refurbished welcoming space for children and young adults, and provides opportunities for socialising, relaxing, engaging in various development activities including food preparation, and enjoying sports facilities including an indoor sports hall.
Visiting the afternoon session at the Centre, Nusrat met with Youth Centre Manager Andy Joyes and the team of staff to discuss the support and provisions available to young people via Hailsham Youth Service, and saw some of the various activities on offer to children who were in attendance that day.

Nusrat Ghani said: “I was delighted to join Hailsham communities and Youth Service staff in cutting the ribbon and officially declaring The Station Youth Centre open at the beginning of September and it was great to return and join one of their afternoon sessions to see just some of the support and after school activities available to young people in the area. This new centre is a fantastic addition to the facilities available to children and young adults in Hailsham and provides a great range of inclusive opportunities for education and development in a safe space. A huge thank you to all Youth Service staff and volunteers for all they continue to do to provide support services for young people.”
