Nusrat Ghani, MP for Sussex Weald, is encouraging local residents to take up invitations for NHS autumn and winter vaccinations to boost immunity and ensure they are protected from illnesses ahead of the winter months.
This autumn and winter, residents of Sussex Weald and across Sussex can book their flu and COVID-19 vaccinations as the NHS rolls out additional protection for those most at risk ahead of winter. The NHS will be sending out invitations to those eligible to get their jabs, while GP practices and other local NHS services will also be contacting people to offer the vaccines. Anyone eligible for the vaccinations can now book via the NHS website, by downloading the NHS App, or by calling 119 for free if they cannot get online.
To book, please go to: www.nhs.uk/nhs-services/pharmacies/book-flu-vaccination.
For the first time, the NHS is also offering vaccines for respiratory syncytial virus (RSV), a common cause of coughs and colds which can be dangerous to older people and young children. The jab is available to those aged 75 to 79, and is being offered to pregnant women from 28 weeks, to protect their child.

Nusrat Ghani said: “I am incredibly grateful to the teams of clinicians and volunteers at practices and pharmacies across Sussex Weald for their continuous efforts to deliver this life-saving protection to local residents. Covid and flu vaccinations provide vital protection, help prevent serious illnesses and reduce hospital admissions during the busy winter months. Appointments continue to be available at various locations across the constituency, so I would like to encourage all eligible residents to make use of these local provisions and book an appointment as soon as possible.”
