Nusrat Ghani, MP for Wealden, was pleased to visit Gun Brewery to celebrate its recent expansion and award-winning products.
Directed by Mark Berry, Gun Brewery is situated at Gun Hill near Chiddingly, on a beautiful 140 acre organic mixed farm, which has a history of hop growing. Apart from its award-winning bitters, lagers and pale ales, the business also prides itself on an environmentally sustainable approach by generating much of its own power from on-site solar panels and by using water for brewing from the spring source deep below the organically farmed land.
Since its opening in 2015, the brewery has grown to include a taproom and shop directly on site, offering not only a wide range of beers, wines and soft drinks, but also a changing roster of Sussex’s finest street food. It also serves as a venue for various events including live music and quizzes.

Nusrat has recently celebrated the product of another Wealden business, Three Acre Brewery from Blackboys, being served at the Strangers Bar in Westminster. She is now supporting Gun Brewery’s nomination for this scheme and hopes that they too can expose their craft to new customers soon.
Nusrat Ghani said: “I first visited Gun Brewery shortly after they have sold their first pint and it was fantastic to return and see them thrive in expanded facilities. We are incredibly lucky to have so many delicious products made by local people from the best of Wealden produce on our doorstep, and Gun Brewery is no exception. It is an exciting business located in the heart of the Wealden countryside, providing not only employment opportunities to local residents, but offering a wide range of unique, sustainably made products."
Mark Berry, Gun Brewery Director, said: "It was a pleasure to welcome our local MP to the new brewery taproom. We discussed a range of challenges relevant to small businesses and more specifically brewers, including market access, fair taxation and the environment. That brewers in the UK pay up to 54p a pint on a 5% beer, compared to 5p in Germany, was something Nusrat was aware of and it was great to have the opportunity to make the case for reform. This was Nusrat's third visit to us over the years, and her first to our new facility, so she could see for herself how we have grown over that time, and how various grants from Wealden and LoCASE have been put to good use!"
