Nusrat Ghani, MP for Wealden, has welcomed South East Water plans to install 550 metres of new water main in Lewes Road, Uckfield, to improve the water infrastructure of the town.
This £260,000 investment will help with the maintenance of a steady supply of top-quality drinking water to the area as the Uckfield community grows. This will support the existing network and avoid low pressure issues for customers as a result of increased demand.
The work is set to begin on 6 June 2022, and the project is expected to take five months to complete. To minimise disruption, the new water main will be installed in three stages. After each stage is complete, the road will be returned to its original state before work moves to the next section.
The three phases of work are detailed on the dedicated webpage, southeastwater.co.uk/lewesroad.
Nusrat Ghani said: “I welcome this key investment to improve the water infrastructure in Uckfield. I appreciate that there will be some temporary disruption to local residents, but I welcome the upgrades as I have been repeatedly raising the need for better infrastructure in Wealden alongside new development with local authorities, the government and water companies.”
