Nus Ghani is supporting the Samaritans’ “Brew Monday” event to be held at the Hailsham Wellbeing Centre on Monday, 15th January.
The third Monday of January is traditionally regarded as ‘the most difficult day of the year’, and the Samaritans have turned this idea on its head – going from ‘Blue Monday’ to ‘Brew Monday’.
This year, Sussex charity Southdown, who provide care, support and housing services to vulnerable people across Sussex, are hosting a Brew Monday event in Hailsham aimed at bringing people together for a cup of tea and a chat on what can be the loneliest day of the year.
Nus has been a regular supporter of events aimed at combatting loneliness, including praising charities such as Sussex Oakleaf in the House of Commons. The post-Christmas January blues are often when people can feel most isolated, and Brew Monday events, which take place across the country are one great way to combat this.
Commenting on Brew Monday, Ms Ghani said: “The Christmas period is a happy and joyful time of year, but for many it can be a cutting reminder of loneliness and isolation.
I am proud to support the Brew Monday event taking place at the Hailsham Wellbeing Centre. It is great to see local charities and initiatives that will have such a positive impact in bringing together our all too often disconnected communities.”
