Nus Ghani, Member of Parliament for Wealden, welcomed universities, apprenticeship providers, local businesses, the emergency services, and armed forces to Hailsham Community College as part of a careers fair attended by local schools.
The Member of Parliament, who has been hosting the event since she was first elected in 2015, worked closely with Hailsham Community College's award-winning Careers Advisor Jennie Cole to secure a variety of employers who discussed with students a variety of post-16 and post-18 options.
The event ran from 09:00 to 12:30 on Friday 15th of March, and was open to school children of all ages, from Years 7-13.
The event, which had a particular focus on employment, apprenticeships, and local businesses, also featured Universities, and other Higher Education providers, ensuring that the aspirations of all students were catered to.
Nus Ghani, MP for Wealden, said:
"Seeing such a wide range of opportunities available to the young people of Wealden is incredibly heartening.
"As Minister for the Year of Engineering, and the Minister in the Department of Transport with responsibility for apprenticeships, the wide variety of STEM options, as well as fantastic apprenticeships wereparticularly welcome: young people really do have more opportunities to excel than ever before in Wealden and beyond.
"I am very grateful to Hailsham Community College for continuing to provide this excellent service, not just to their own students but those at other local schools, which can work to only broaden the horizons of our young people further. This sort of leadership in our local community is needed now more than ever.
"The school's drive to provide an excellent outcome for all students, and the hard work of Jennie Cole in particular, is wonderful to see."
