I am delighted to announce that Christine Skinner has been awarded the Wealden Hero Award this week.
Christine is an invaluable member of the Uckfield FM team. Since the beginning of the coronavirus crisis, the radio station has become an even more important hub for residents of Uckfield and the surrounding villages to get up to date information and Government advice. Christine has volunteered to daily source, collate and write a comprehensive guide which included all relevant information, which she then read out live on air from her home during the Breakfast Show. She provided updated information for the presenters to read throughout the day and is committed to carrying out this task for as long as necessary.
Our community radio stations are real lifelines to many constituents and I cannot thank them enough for all they have been doing during the Coronavirus pandemic. They are outstanding community assets run by local people for local people, and they have played a vital role during the crisis. The work and success of our local radio stations depends on a fantastic team of volunteers who dedicate their time to ensuring that their listeners have the most up to date information and know whom to contact for support. Christine is an exceptional volunteer and greatly valued by her team and the Uckfield community. Many thanks for your efforts and dedication.
